I am a self-taught artist who loves my work. I love my work as much today after 19 years as I did the first day I put my brush on a piece of tile.
My goal is to work with you to create a piece of artwork for your home or business. Together we will work to design the exact picture or pictures you will enjoy. I work with china paints and can paint any tile that can be fired because china paint is a low-fire paint. I fire to 1341 degrees, hot enough that the glaze on the tile softens and the paint becomes part of the glaze. China paint is applied in layers, firing between each painting. I can keep the colors very soft or make them intense, it is your choice. There is no limit as to how many times I fire the tile to obtain the right color. I can put color on color to obtain good color matches because my paints are transparent. I have fired some tiles up to 10 times to achieve the desired results. I take digital pictures and email them to you so that you can follow the progress as to how the finished tiles will look. You have the freedom to make choices as the work progresses. I am not a temperamental artist because I am painting this for you and I want you to enjoy the finished tiles for many years to come. Once the design is fired on, it is permanent.
I also work on natural stone using acrylic paints that are sealed with a permanent fixative. Natural stone cannot be fired without damage to the stone.
My little helper is no longer with me as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I miss his little pawprints very much. I do have a new little kitten who has applied for the job. His name is Simon and he has helped me in many of the same ways as did Jacob....pawprints in the paint.
